ARTIST
I’ve never defined being an artist by technical skill; many at art school were more proficient painters or sculptors than me. Instead, it’s a profound sense of kinship—a feeling Patti Smith described upon recognizing fellow creators before ever becoming known. For me, exploring what makes an artist reveals a simple truth: creativity isn't an exclusive club. If everyone is an artist, that kinship belongs to anyone ready to explore their own creative impulse.
ECONOMIST
With four decades of experience—spanning roles as a UK DTI economist during the WTO Uruguay Round to Chief Economist at Mayer Brown—I advise governments and corporations on trade remedies, WTO law, and regulatory policy. Combining an MSc in Economics with MA Fine Art training, I specialise in decoding complex economic issues into clear, actionable analysis for business leaders and policy makers. My work has featured across CNN, the Financial Times, and The Economist.
ARTIST-ECONOMIST
The Artist-Economist combines rigorous quantitative analysis with creative, philosophical inquiry—bridging cold market mechanics with the nuances of human experience. This identity is embodied in the mark on the left, which transforms classic supply and demand curves into a 360-degree rotational array. Where standard 2D models attempt to reduce human behavior to flat lines, arraying them endlessly reflects the complex, non-linear reality of economic systems. The central performance portrait captures the practitioner as both analyst and alchemist, navigating the space between theoretical models and lived human truth.
Three Lenses, One Perspective: Operating with an analytical mind and a creative soul, my work brings together three distinct ways of seeing the world. As an Economist, I apply systemic models and quantitative rigour to decode complex global mechanics. As an Artist, I rely on intuitive and conceptual inquiry to challenge flat assumptions and reveal new possibilities. As a Spiritual Thinker, I anchor both in empathy, presence, and a search for deeper human meaning. Weaving these three lenses into a single practice bridges analytical precision, creative expression, and conscious awareness into one unified vision.
