ARTIST
In my mid-40s, a major mid-life transition led me to re-examine my path. As part of that journey, I went to art school receiving an MA in Fine Art. I found a creative side of myself that had long been suppressed. As an artist I'm inspired by a belief in radical equality and the innate creativity in everyone. My work centres on the idea that the internal experience of art is far more important than the physical object. And my job as an artist is to find poetry everywhere.
ECONOMIST
Four decades of business experience spanning roles as a UK government economist during the WTO Uruguay Round to Chief Economist and Head of EU Trade Practice at the global law firm Mayer Brown. I have advised governments, trade associations, and corporations on global trade policy. Ranked as a Global Elite Thought Leader 2025 by Lexology, my work has featured across CNN, CNBC, The Financial Times, and The Economist.
ARTIST-ECONOMIST
When I went to art school I wasn't certain whether I was leaving my business career behind me. However, the tutors encouraged me to bring economics into my art work. I resisted at first, claiming that I want to transcend the material and make work about the infinite. But they made me realise that my work exploring infinity contained many propositions on economics. I did performance lectures as The Artist-Economist and a whole me was born, integrating both analysis and alchemist.
THREE LENSES, ONE PERSPECTIVE
During this period, I also followed a spiritual path and had a spiritual and creative awakening. I'm not religious but I'm informed by the great religious philosophies of the world. As The Artist-Economist, my practice integrates an analytical mind with a creative soul. My work brings together three distinct ways of seeing the world. The three lenses of art, economics, and spirituality merge into a unified practice bridging analytical precision, creative expression and conscious awareness.
